**TRIGGER WARNING: CONTAINS MATURE LANGUAGE AND CONTENT**
All my life I was told to be #grateful!
As an adult, I ask what was I to be grateful for but got no #logical answers.
"You should be grateful you have a place to live!"
Should I also be grateful that I was #molested daily in this hell that I reside in?
"You should be grateful that you have a mother!"
Should I be grateful that my mother did not #acknowledge me, #care for me, or #love me?
"You should be grateful that you know who your father is!"
Should I be grateful that my #father wanted nothing to do with me and had not spent any #quality time with me?
"You should be grateful that you have clothes to wear to school!"
Should I be grateful that I had to do something #illegal to obtain these clothes because I had no one that cares for me?
"You should be grateful that someone wants you!"
Should I be grateful that I was wanted by #perverts that were two or three times my age?
"You should be grateful that you get to hangout late and do not have a curfew?"
Should I be grateful that I was expected to pay monthly bills for a household that only showed they cared by #verbally, and #emotionally #abusing me?
As a child the feeling of being lost when I physically was with a family was unbearable and confusion. To the world, there was so much to be grateful for, yet to the person living this life there was nothing that was not tarnished.
This is someone's story! This is a story of a young person having to learn to navigate the world through #misinformation, #abuse, and #contradictions. It is easy to point out the good in someone else's life but the personal view of the situations do not always match.
Be gentle with others. Be gentle with yourself!
